(index), pl., old ivory vellum, smooth and mute spine, red edges (worms on inner hinges; angular wetness on 8 pl. and in margin of very last ff., rare russ.) Fourth Elzevirian edition of this fundamental study, conforming to the original edition of 1631 and its reprints of 1635 and 1642. It is illustrated with a title-frontispiece and 35 double plates (num. A-Z and Aa-Mm), engraved on copper, as well as 8 double tables hors-texte. The figure n° Gg signed in the plate by the engraver W. Hondius. Provenance: Daniel Burchard (manuscript bookplate dated 1683). (Willems 1356; Cockle 836).
