In 8vo, 200x130 mm; Binding in full vellum, gilt titles on spine, splash cuts. Papers [14], 284. On title page typographical mark, repeated on verso of last sheet, pasted anciently on guard sheet. Italic typeface. Colophon on recto of paper 284 "Venetiis, in aedibus Aldi, et Andreae Asulani Soceri, Mense Iulio, M. D. XXII." One stain to paper 179, good copy.
First and only Aldina edition. Also contains summary of each play and life of Plautus. In the dedicatory Epistle to Nicolaus von Schonberg, Bishop of Capua, Gian Francesco Asolano, editor of the edition states that the text of the XX comedies in this edition was taken from a copy of the manuscript with annotations by Erasmus and Aldo. In the preliminary papers: Index verborum, Argumenta singularum Comoediarum and Plauti vita ex Petro Crinito de poetis latinis. Renouard: "Edition faite par François d'Asole sur un exemplaire corrigé par Alde l'Ancien.
