CHARLES X, knight of Malta, born on May 16, 1785 in Dôle (Jura) and died on July 27, 1862 in Dôle, son of Pierre Ferdinand GARNIER, lord of FALLETANS (1733-1806), and of Marguerite Simone de MESMAY (1747- 1796). He married, on November 26, 1817 in Courbouzon (Jura), Marie
Xavière Adèle Le BAS de GIRANDY, born on November 14, 1796 in Hanover (Germany) and died on January 16, 1857 in Dôle (Jura). They had three daughters: Philippine Octavie (1818-1849), without marriage, Eugénie (1823-1906), countess O'MAHONY, whose descendants are still alive today, and Mélanie (1825-1899), without marriage. His grandson Maurice, Count of O'MAHONY (1849-1920), is the author of the text on the back of the miniature.
