Athanase Louis Marie, count CLÉMENT de RIS, hereditary peer of France, colonel of cavalry, commander of the Legion of honor (April 30, 1836), knight of Saint-Louis, born on June 29, 1782 in Tréguier (Côtes-d'Armor), baptized the same day in the cathedral church of Tréguier and died on October 28, 1837 in his hotel, 14 rue du Cherche-Midi, Paris VIe (formerly
Xe). He was the son of Dominique, Count CLÉMENT de RIS (1750-1827), and Catherine Marie Olive CHEVREUX du MINY, who died in 1829. He married, on March 20, 1810, Marie Caroline Virginie Le JEANS, born on March 22, 1789 in
Marseille and died on December 11, 1827 in Paris, daughter of Lazare Le JEANS and Marie Thérèse CLARY.
Without posterity of their marriage, they adopt the three children of Marguerite
Thérèse TORTERAT (1790-1827), of whom Catherine Clémentine TORTERATCLÉMENT de RIS (1823-1902), lady-in-waiting of Princess Napoleon, née Clotilde de SAVOIE, wife of Admiral de La RONCIÈRE (1813-1881), had a daughter Marguerite, who wrote the handwritten note on the back of this miniature.
