Accidents and missing parts
This limestone mask was intended to be part of an architectural context.
The beautiful oval face inspired by the ancient art of the Fontainebleau School and more particularly the work of Jean Goujon (1510-1567), whose very active workshop in the middle of the sixteenth century produced numerous figures in bas-relief to be integrated into the architectural decorations of the great royal projects of the reign of Henri II.
