BALLETS RUSSES - Rare collection of original documents concerning the coming of the Ballets Russes to the Grand Théâtre de Vichy on July 30, August 1, 3 and 4, 1929: 1/an invitation card with the printed program; 2/4 long LAS by W. NOUVEL, sent from Paris between July 11 and 23, 1929, addressed to the Director of the Casino de Vichy, René CHAUVET, in order to regulate all the practical details of the coming of the troupe to Vichy and the preparation of the first concert planned for July 29. 3/Telegram from René CHAUVET addressed to Nouvel, warning him of the non-receipt of a music parcel sent from Dunkirk, a very prejudicial lack for the planned concert. 4/ A dated letter addressed to Mr. Nouvel by René Chauvet, dated August 5, 1929, one page 1/4 in-4: Important letter following the artistic and commercial failure of the performances of the Ballets Russes that the Director of the Grand Théâtre attributes to the absence of the famous music box, badly sent by his correspondents, which obliged an important modification of the programs at the last minute...he asks his interlocutor for a financial compensation. 5/Long LAS from NOUVEL to Chauvet, dated October 24, 1929, still about this famous music box. 6/Une LAS dated August 22, 1934 addressed to the Director of the Grand Casino de Vichy René CHAUVET by W. de BASIL, General Director of the Ballets Russes de Monte-Carlo: LAS about the last show of the Ballets Russes staged in Vichy by Madame Chauvet. 2pages 1/4 in-8; 7/Program of the Ballets Russes de Monte-Carlo for 12 performances at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in 1934. 8/Original photograph of the Polish dancer Léon Wotzikovsky, size 24 x 18 cm.
