MARCEL DUCHAMP (1887-1968) AUTOGRAPHIC LETTER SIGNED to Francis PICABIA (1926) 2 pages in-8 on blue paper Autograph letter from Duchamp signed Marcel addressed to Francis Picabia concerning the 'Sale of paintings, watercolors and drawings by Francis Picabia belonging to Marcel Duchamp' of March 8, 1926. Marcel Duchamp, with money inherited from his parents, bought many works from Picabia and encouraged various collectors to participate in the sale. This sale was organized by Duchamp with a preface that he signed Rrose Selavy. Some of the works belonged to Duchamp, others to Picabia and to a few collectors. The two friends solicited articles in the magazines of the time to promote the sale, which was a real success. Very good the interview of Christian (artist close to Picabia)...G Michel already wrote what must pass in the Cri de Paris...Go do Paris-midi and the Quotidien... Did I tell you that I had taken in Saint-Cloud a head of Spanish red rose and a Spanish dancer dropping her shawl. Tell Mrs. Picabia and tell me if these 2 things belong to her... ...I share with him (Mailfert) the benefit and with you my share. I did not tell him that you were the owner. He is a discreet man. He is excited about the sale, will support, buy and help me a lot. You put in the mail 50 catalogs ... AUTOGRAPH LETTER to Francis PICABIA, SIGNED (1926), 2pp. on blue paper, 8vo.
