A 1905 portrait of Misia [SERT] by Charles PICART LE DOUX belonging to Alexandre de Paris was exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and at the Musée de l'Annonciade in Saint-Tropez in 2012.
Misia SERT, queen of Paris. She ruled the art world from the 1890s to the 1930s.
Born in St. Petersburg on March 30, 1872 under the name of Marie-Sophie, Olga, Zénaïde Godebska, she is from an old Polish family that emigrated to France at the beginning of the 19th century.
Her father, a famous and wealthy sculptor, had a very rich social life. Her mother, Sophie Servais, was herself the daughter of one of the most famous cellists of the time.
Through her marriage to José Maria SERT, she approached DIAGHILEV and the Russian ballets.
She became the muse and patron of non-Russian artists, such as PICASSO, SATIE, MILHAUD, AURIC, POULENC, BONNARD, COLETTE, COCTEAU, COCO CHANEL, and many others; and painted by LAUTREC,
RENOIR, BONNARD, VUILLARD, VALOTTON, etc...
From Los Angeles to New York, from London to Paris, from Madrid to Tel Aviv, her image is present in museums museums all over the world.
