Man in the city 1988 Mixed media on cut paper signed and dated lower center and pasted on cardboard 54 x 70 cm Antonio Seguí left Argentina in 1951 and settled permanently in France in 1963. There he developed a singular art inspired by the irony of the German expressionists and the absurdity of what he called, quoting Balzac, "the human comedy". His paintings populated by men with a confident gait sketch the urban agitation with a humor and a sweetness of appearance, masking a deep existential anguish.
