Nicolas Bernard LÉPICIÉ (Paris, 1735-1784) Portrait of a young boy in bust, formerly known as Portrait of Gounod Canvas. Old restorations. 40,5 x 32 cm From the 1760s on, Nicolas-Bernard Lépicié turned to genre scenes, influenced by Chardin but also by the Dutch masters of the 17th century. His paintings represent mostly isolated figures, with a particular fondness for portraits of students or children dressed simply. Often of small format, these paintings express a feeling of intimacy in relation to the model.
