While the classical models are progressively abandoned, the artists turn to the techniques, colors turned to the techniques, colors and models of the East. Deck knew how to reappropriate these techniques without pastiche, resulting in the famous "Deck Blue", halfway between the Turkish earthenware of Iznik Iznik and Chinese earthenware that he often embellishes with delicate characters, flowers and painted birds. The quest for the monumental stimulated by the World's Fair leads him to create pieces in spectacular format, like his famous "Alhambra" vase presented in 1862 in London. However, rare are on the market works of large size of the ceramist.
