Alberto Giacometti Database, no. 4484 If everyone is familiar with the long, stretched bronze silhouettes that are emblematic of Alberto Giacometti's work we should not forget that he also marked the avant-garde of his time with his talents as a decorator. The dawn of the 1930s was marked by a fruitful collaboration with Jean-Michel Frank. With the help of his brother Diego, Alberto puts at the service of this last one his talents in the work of the bronze which it submits to the aesthetic archaizing and minimalist aesthetic required by Frank. Emblematic of the Art Deco period, the pieces designed by Giacometti, such as his lamp base "star" borrow from the geometry of cubism while retaining an eminently personal character, exceeding the aesthetics of the personal character, exceeding the aesthetics of the avant-garde of the time.
