The Artist drawing in front of the fountain of the castle of Servanes
Pen and Indian ink, grey wash.
Monogrammed in the lower left corner: "P.R. ".
18,6 x 23,4 cm
The castle of Servanes (commune of Mouriès, in the Bouches-du-Rhône), belonged to the Révoil family-in-law. Here the artist has depicted himself drawing the fountain of the castle, probably with his wife and two children. There are two other very similar drawings from the same point of view, where only the characters change, the first one kept in the Calvet Museum in Avignon (M.-C. Chaudonneret, Fleury Richard et Pierre Révoil. La peinture Troubadour, Paris, 1980, no. 125, fig. 271) and the second one sold at Christie's (Paris, 23 March 2006, lot 326).
