Flintlock shotgun with two side-by-side barrels by Allevin. Barrels with two side panels with thunders then round, lights reinforced of gold, gauge approximately 14,5 mm. Hallmarked, signature in gold letters "ALLEVIN PARIS" on the firing band, round-bodied locks decorated with scrolls and fillets bearing the mark "ALLEVIN ARQUEBUSIER DE MONSIEUR FRERE DU ROY PARIS", swan-neck hammers. Silver ornaments and trimmings, chiseled with acanthus leaves, urns, medallions and at the front of the trigger guard a medallion with a rosette. Hallmarks with the head of a bull (discharge Paris 1775/81), the "A" (of charge) and the "P" crowned and reversed. Half-length shaft frame carved with interlacing (cracked at the end) with leather cushion stock, underlined by a fine studded cord. Silver thumb piece with the arms of "Du Pré", intendant of Guyenne, King's adviser. Whalebone ramrod with silver tip (restoration). About 1775- 1781. Total length about 133 cm. BE. ALLEVIN: Harquebusier in Paris of Monsieur brother of the King. Monsieur, the brother of Louis XVI was then the Count of Provence, the future Louis XVIII. He is said to be harquebusier of the royal captaincy of the hunts of the Louvre.
