Imperial Guard Horse Chasseur saber 1st model, attributed. 1st EMPIRE (1807-1808). Brass frame, single-branch guard, cap with riveted button, rounded off with long tail riveted to the right quillon, marked "VERSAILLES", finished with a four-sided ball. Wooden buttstock (small glass holes) covered with brass twisted filigree leather, oval-shaped pommels, marked on the counterguard side "ALLAUX 2 CNE". Curved blade, with hollow sides and gutters, engraved on the flat back "MnFture Imple de Klingenthal Coulaux Frères". Surface oxidation on a part of the blade. Punches " C " & " M " for N. CHERRER, inspector appointed director from June 1807 to December 1808 & J.J MOUTON, controller from 1806 to February 1809. Strong scabbard, type 1803, in gilded brass with cut-out bowl, with two bracelets (wear on the pins), openwork with a rounded crevice of 18 cm between the two bracelets (screw in the middle of the upper bracelet), revealing very slightly wood under the leather, finished with a large and strong asymmetrical iron sting. Punches representing an "x" and a cogwheel on the top of the scabbard between the strap and the bowl. Nice historical piece having lived through a very good condition (many hits to the scabbard, worn stinger). Blade about 84,5 cm, total length 99,5 cm without scabbard, length with scabbard 104,5 cm.
