DRAGON Senior Officer's Saber, model 1784. 1st EMPIRE. Brass mounting known as "battle guard", joint arc ending in right angle with the cruise with a quillon, composed of four secondary branches in "S", scallop shell openwork on the guard side decorated with bundles of godrons. Counterguard reproducing the base of the scallop decorated with the same motifs. Short-tailed cap, sides cut into fleurons and engraved with laurel leaves. Blackened horn fuse, watermarked with two single wires and basal ferrule, in copper, molded cap. Strong and long straight blade with four hollow sides, engraved blued and gilded with trophies and foliage (rest of gilding). The back of the blade bears the inscription "DEMBARERE", in capital letters, on the hollow sides "2nd DRAGON REGIMENT" on one side and "Meilsberg and Friedland" on the other, in English cursive (markings without guarantee of time). Wooden scabbard covered with blackened leather, with three brass fittings cut in braces and engraved with leafy friezes, long bolt embellished with a large iron stinger. Blade length 91 cm, total length 108 cm without scabbard, length with scabbard 109 cm. BE. This sword was the subject of an article in tradition magazine in 1997 (N°124/125)
