(NASA. LARGE FORMAT. GEMINI-4. EVA. H WHITE II) Historic Gemini 4 mission: first American spacewalk. Close-up (rear) view of astronaut Edward H. White II, pilot of the Gemini-Titan 4 space flight, as he floats weightlessly in space. The extravehicular activity was performed during the third revolution of the Gemini 4 spacecraft. White is tethered to the spacecraft by a 7.5m umbilical line and a 7m tether line, both wrapped with gold tape to form a single cord. In his right hand, White carries a hand-held homing unit (HHSMU). His helmet visor is gold plated to protect him from the sun's unfiltered rays. This photo was taken on June 3, 1965.later chromogenic print. Numbering on the front.
