WILLE Johann Georg (Giessen 1715-Paris 1808). "Presumed portrait of Jean François Rameau (1716 - 1777), the nephew of Rameau. Black stone and white highlights on beige paper. Titled and signed at right center Rameau my / Pupil, in 1746 he / ... of Paris / J. G. Will. Insolate. H.20 L.14. Provenance: Maherault Collection; R. de Najac Collection in 1909 (according to inscriptions on the reverse). Our drawing was engraved by Gauthier Saint Elme, to illustrate an edition of Le Neveu de Rameau, published by Quantin in 1883. Expert : René MILLET.
