Graceful alphabet. At Tirpenne. Editor, rue Saint-Jacques, N° 27, and at Fournier, rue Saint-Jacques, N° 31. Paris. [About 1850]. (14 x 11 cm). Leporello of (25) lithographed plates in black: publisher's brown marbled paper boards, green chagrined cloth spine, lithograph applied to the first board, framed with a gilt embossed paper frieze. Twenty-five graceful half-body portraits of women in the traditional costumes of their city or country. One per initial (no W) beginning the name of the country: Armenia, Bern, Cagliari, Dantzick [sic], Edinburgh... It is necessary to wait for the letter M to see a pretty young girl from Macon. Fournier is installed at 31 rue Saint-Jacques between 1847 and the beginning of the Second Empire (1852). Rare leporello. No referenced copy. Well preserved with an old renewed spine.
