No address, no place, no date. [France. ca. 1850]. (16 x 10.4 cm). Leporello of (25) engraved and colored flaps on the front: period dominoté paper boards, engraved and colored label, bearing the title, applied to the first board.
Rare finely engraved and hand-colored alphabet book.
One flap per letter separated into three parts: at the head, the initial whose jambs form man, animal or object, in the center, a scene always in motion and, at the foot, the name of the occurrence in italics also engraved and underlined by the black initial.
Occurrences very varied and different from the alphabets of the time, with several military: Cossack, Forager, Hussar, Lancer, Marshal, etc. An Execution for the E. Italian, Neapolitan, Jew and ending with Xizor the sapper, "Y a de la munition" and Zaïm.
The young owner of the book at the time indicated in pen on the back covers, "Guignard Francis, Mitron Boulanger, Vive la République."
