Uncommon edition, colored, of the same year as the original.
Published during the Consulate, and intended for the children of emigrants, by Gerhard Fleischer (1769-1849) in Leipzig. [Bonaparte will grant amnesty in 1802].
The six finely engraved plates are here colored and include four illustrations each, one for each initial and trade. Two for the letters J [Gardener and Goblet player], V [Vendangeur and Vinaigrier], no K, nor W, x and Z). At the end of the book: "Des arts et métiers", "De la monnaie d'or et d'argent" and Le Coucou paresseux, fable.
Rare in period colors.
Well preserved, slightly rubbed edges and corners.
