CUBA - VIEW OF MATANZAS - "Vista de la Ciudad de Matanzas tomada desde el Monte de Cafetal de Dn. Vicente Guerrero. Isla de Cuba Pintoresca. Coleccion de Vistas Generales". 1856. Lithograph, enhanced with colors, of a spectacular panorama of the city of Matanzas, in the northwest of Cuba, drawn by Leonardo Barañano and lithographed by Eugene Bourrelier. Published by La Marina in 1856. The general view is surrounded by four views of the city's emblematic buildings: the parish church, the government palace, the Bailén bridge and the military hospital. Text in French and English. The painter Leonardo Barañano, born in Santander, traveled to Cuba around 1848, staying on the island for 15 years. In 1860 he returned to Paris and became "artistic director" associated in the Testu and Massin printing house. The lithographic workshop La Marina, under the direction of Eugenio Bourrelier, produced prints and several types of documents, as well as the "Revista de la Habana". Of great rarity. Size: 52.5 x 71 cm approximately. Condition (good state of conservation).
