DES CHAMPS, formerly according to the common opinion the Temple of Mercury or Ceres; was a Priory of the Order of St. Benoist, dependant on the Abbey of Mairmoustier; and since in the year 1603, was given to the Religious Carmelites of the Reformed of St. Therese, to establish there the first Monastery of this Holy Congregation.
