The paint surface is a little thin in the background. There is a tiny loss to the signature. In strong light it is possible to see a small area of restoration to the leaf of the white flower, lower center. Inspection under UV light is hindered by thick, uneven varnish but it is still possible to see: the aforementioned restoration; a little infilling to the craquelure of the rose, center; and a little further scattered infilling to the craquelure. Further restoration cannot be excluded. Still life with butterflies The canvas is unlined. The varnish is dirty and scuffed. The paint surface is a little thin in parts of the background. In raking light it is possible to see an area of restoration along the upper edge, center and also to the right edge, center. Inspection under UV light is hindered by the thick varnish but it is still possible to see: the two aforementioned areas of restoration; a few tiny infillings to the background; and a small area of restoration to the stem, lower center. Further restoration cannot be excluded.
