In 1854, the industrialist and chemist Léopold Oudry created an electrochemical workshop in Auteuil, at 10 rue Cuissard (today rue Félicien David). He succeeded in durably copper-plating small parts, then by modifying his process, he obtained the order of galvanic copper-plating of all the objects and monuments in cast iron of the city of Paris and in particular several fountains.
