Pierre Puvis de Chavannes (1824-1898) L'Espérance, 1897 Lithograph on wove paper. Signed on the plate. Dry stamp of L'Estampe Moderne in the lower right corner. Dimensions: +Sheet size : 40,5 x 30,5 cm / 15,9 x 12 in. +Image size : 27 x 23 cm / 10,6 x 9 in. Condition : In overall good condition with mild handling creases, some minor staining in the margins and light discoloration at the edges. A few light tears and creases to the bottom corners. Very clean image otherwise. Versed on paper. Published by Masson & Piazza, Paris. Somewhat similar to the Master of the Poster series, L'Estampe Moderne was a portfolio printed between 1897 and 1898, published by Imprimerie Champenois, Paris, containing 24 monthly portfolios, with four original lithographs in each. Each was commissioned solely for this series. In addition to Mucha, some of the contributing artists included Rhead, Meunier, Ibels, Steinlen, Willette and Grasset. Shipping costs will be 15 € inc.
