Large six-panel byôbu (room divider) screen decorated with roosters, hens and chicks nestled in a lush garden of chrysanthemum flowers (kiku) in shades of blue, pink, yellow and white.
The scene is accompanied by an elegantly written poem.
Dated, signed and sealed by the artist on the right;
Dated: Winter of the Year of the Water Buffalo (Fuyu Mizunotôshi) (Winter 1853 or 1913)

This multicolored painting is placed on paper. The flowers are even more accentuated by being executed in shell paste (gofun).
The panels are surrounded by two silk borders: a thin one in white brocade and a wide one in navy blue with a geometrical pattern. Protected by a wooden frame.
Total width: 357.8 cm (2 x 60.9 cm and 4 x 59 cm); Height: 160.1 cm.
It is in very good condition with some minimal traces of age.
