Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) Attacking Bull, c. 1949 Medallion in red earthenware Made in the Madoura workshop in Vallauris Signed with the stamp of Picasso and Madoura about 3.8 cm in diameter REFERENCE : Catalogue raisonné of Picasso's ceramics : Alain Ramié n°94 The edition of this medallion, in red earthenware was limited to 60 copies. It is a rare example with two shades of red and a white highlight. A few other medallions personalized -and a priori unique- by Picasso are known, notably those offered to his wife Jacqueline or to Madame Bonnet-Raoux, director at the time of the La Hune bookshop (see lot 52, Monte Carlo auction house, sale on 29 April 2021) PROVENANCE: Raymond Legrand Collection Raymond Legrand, worked at the Madoura workshops where he was in charge of turning the pieces, notably for the Picasso editions.
