The edition of this medallion, in red earthenware was limited to 60 copies. It is a rare example with two shades of red and a white highlight.
A few other medallions personalized -and a priori unique- by Picasso are known, notably those offered to his wife Jacqueline or to Madame Bonnet-Raoux, director at the time of the
La Hune bookshop (see lot 52, Monte Carlo auction house, sale on 29 April 2021)

Raymond Legrand, worked at the Madoura workshops where he was in charge of turning the pieces, notably for the Picasso editions.
