Joyful Round of the Assembly of Notables, ca. 1787
Folded fan, the double sheet of engraved paper enhanced with gouache. In the center, the king Louis XVI in majesty, surrounded by the representatives of the Clergy, the Nobility. Near him the minister Loménie de Brienne, and the Garde des Sceaux declaiming a speech: "You will not betray the expectation of a king who wants to make France happy through you".
On the sides, seven verses singing the praises of the king: "Louis is unceasingly occupied/ Of the happiness of his subjects/ Let us sing with joy/ Long live the good King of the French (...)".
Dumb reverse.
