Visit to the palace, China, ca. 1850
Folded fan, the double sheet in gouache paint paper. In the garden of a palace, characters appear before a dignitary dressed in yellow. All are wearing silk clothes and an ivory head, in relief.
The blue silk reverse is painted with a couple of pheasants among roses.
