French school 19th century. "Lady with panther and lady with lion". Pair of bronze sculptures with marble base. Unsigned. Size: 25 x 20 x 10 cm (lady and panther); 28 x 25 x 10 cm (lady and lion). Pair of bronze sculptures of two ladies on top of dangerous animals, these animals have a docile and submissive attitude, while the female characters show security and confidence, these features can be appreciated in the fact that their heads are elevated looking to the front and the way of resting on the felines is calm, besides both of them carry a cloth in their hands, and instead of covering their attributes as it had been done until that time, they let the cloth fall on the animals without feeling shame or modesty.
