A jurisconsult and humanist from Arras, François Baudoin (1520-1573) (in Latin Balduinus) studied humanities at Louvain and traveled in Germany and Switzerland where he met the Alsatian reformer Martin Bucer and Calvin. He was appointed State Councillor to Henry III.
