First edition in French, published simultaneously with the original edition in Dutch, of this festival book celebrating the stay that King Charles II (1630-1685) made in the Netherlands and his entries in Breda, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Delft and The Hague.
Very beautiful copper engraved illustration, including a superb portrait of Charles II by Cornelis Van Dalen and 6 folding plates engraved by Pierre Philippe and Theodor Matham after Adriaen Van de Venne and Jacob Toorenvliet. The title finial is with the arms of the sovereign.
Missing one plate (5 of 6). Restored tear without missing at 2 plates and at the bottom of leaf X1, small restoration in the inner margin of the first two text leaves and angular paper missing at two others. Binding very rubbed, hinges fragile, lower part of the spine detached (but preserved).
