Erotic group In bronze with dark patina, signed. Dimensions : 7 x 11 x 5,5 cm Neo-baroque sculptor of statues, busts and monuments, he was a student at the Academy of Antwerp under the direction of Joseph Geefs and Nicolais De Keyser. From 1879 to 1881, he perfected his skills in Paris in the studio of Jan Van Beers and met Auguste Rodin. His trip to Italy in 1882, especially to Rome and Florence, determined the next steps in his artistic career: muscular bodies and vigorous movements characterize his work. He made his debut at the Salons Triennaux in 1873 and then exhibited at the Brussels and Ghent Salons, where he won numerous awards. A rustic man, probably one of the greatest sculptors Belgium has ever known, Lambeaux encumbers the creations of his tormented genius with indecipherable symbols. Main museums and important achievements: Brabo Fountain on the Grand'Place in Antwerp or the colossal high relief of "The Passion of Humanity" in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Antwerp and Brussels, Museums in Bucharest, Ghent, Liège or Ostend.
