Wood, liana fruit
L : 37 cm
Description: The awale is called ma kpon in the Dan language. Supported by four small legs, the board is cut into two rows of six squares where the players place forty-eight counters during the game. The pieces are generally liana fruits, appreciated for their polished, shiny surface.
As this object perfectly illustrates, the Dan placed great importance on the beauty of the objects they used in their daily lives. The two ends decorated with geometric shapes, the "head" in the form of a hollowed out rounded circle, the tail in the form of a rounded diamond
