From the Earth to the Moon and Around the Moon by Jules Verne. Illustrations by de Montaut (De la Terre à la Lune) and Émile Bayard and A. de Neuville (Autour de la Lune). Paris, Bibliothèque d'Éducation et de Récréation, J. Hetzel et Cie, sd (ca 1879).
Large double in-8°. Publisher's full denim blue percaline binding "aux deux éléphants" with Lenègre type "b" 2nd board. A. Lenègre bookbinder. Gilded edges. Blue endpapers. Catalog "AB" for 1879-1880. Printed by Gauthier-Villars.
Heads worn and corners rubbed. Small crack at the foot of the second spine. Some foxing. Soiling on the general title pages. This volume, very pleasant in fact (the golds of the spine and the first plate, as well as the gutter are perfect), is nevertheless extremely rare in this type of binding, especially in this color.
