Kindjal dagger, Iran qâjâr, 19th century
Straight steel blade with double edge and central ridge, the heel inlaid with a gold mantling inscribed with the date 1121 H / 1709. Handle in gendarme hat trimmed with walrus ivory plates, each carved with a fight of animals and birds framing cartouches decorated with characters. Small turquoise cabochons enhancing the whole.
Length : 37 cm ; gross weight : 224 g
Traces of rust on the blade, one cabochon missing.
