Work executed by order of the Government to serve for the public instruction - Paris ; Chez le citoyen Mirys, an VIII-1800] - 1 volume In-4° - 8 first pages missing including title - Handwritten annotations in black ink on the 2nd white guard - 1 frontispiece and 180 engraved leaves in recto (163 figures of the History of the Republic, 17 of the History of the emperors), sometimes numbered by hand, some leaves slightly smaller, some restored in the margins, stains in the inner margins of some leaves - Frontispiece by Baquoy after Mirys, the 180 leaves engraved in recto by Baquoy, Patas, Longueil, Dambrun, de Ghendt, R. de Launay and others, after the drawings of the author-publisher, a Polish artist living in Paris, who signed "S. de Myris". Under each engraving is a caption and a historical précis, also engraved, all framed by a double black fillet. The text is attributed to Fourcade and Jean-Baptiste Dumouchel according to the catalog of the BnF - Bound in the 19th century in half glazed blue basane (small spills on the 1st plate) - Smooth spine decorated and titled in gold (darkened).
