Quadriga galloping at pace left, led by charioteer holding reins and kentron; charioteer crowned by Nike flying right; in exergue, dolphin passing left.Rev. Head of Arethusa left, hair pulled back, held in double headband, surrounded by four dolphins.17,18 g. HGC 2, 1345. Unsigned strike in the style of Eukleidas. Rare. Sicily, Syracuse, Dionysios I (405-395 BC), Tetradrachm, AR (g 17,18); Charioteer, holding kentron and reins, driving fast quadriga l.; above, Nike flying r. crowning charioteer; in ex. dolphin l., Rv. Head of Arethousa l., hair in broad band and welling upwards in wavy locks, wearing double hoop earring and linear necklace; around, ΣYPAKOΣIΩN and four dolphins. HGC 2, 1345. Unsigned dies in the style of Eukleidas. Rare, good very fine.
