STATUE, SEPIK RIVER, PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Wood
H. 23 cm
Provenance :
Acquired around 1950 from Pierre Vérité
Beautiful statue representing a male figure standing with his arms along his body, his legs subtly bent, his sex marked, his stomach slightly inflated, his chest and shoulder blades well defined. The ovoid face adopts an intense expression, the eyebrows are strong, the mouth prognathic, the ears pierced, the skull topped with a bun. Very nice brown patina from use.
