Michel Strogoff - Moscow - Irkutsk - / A drama in Mexico.
Ill. by Férat. Paris, Bibliothèque d'éducation et de récréation, J. Hetzel. S.D. (1891). Large in. 8 double. Publisher's cardboard in polychrome percaline "with printed portrait" with spine with lighthouse, bound by Lenègre (second plate type "E"). Gilt edges. Original endpapers. Printed by Gauthier-Villars. Catalog "FX" in fine for 1891-92.
The "glued" portrait binding is not very frequent for all titles (except for Mistress Branican) because it lasted only one year before being replaced by the "glued portrait" one. It is the very first "lighthouse back" binding, which explains the darker golds. Nice gutter. Cartonnage a little dull often with repeats. Page 1 / 2 partly torn (without missing).
