Important altarpiece group in walnut carved in high relief representing the Flagellation. In the center, Christ is leaning against the column, his hands tied behind him; he is surrounded by four executioners, two scourging him with their arms raised, another grabbing him by his hair, a fourth, at the bottom left, sitting and repairing a whip; in the background on the crenellated background, two spectators stand to the left of the column. Brussels mallet mark on the back. Beautiful quality of execution.
Brabant, Brussels, circa 1500/1510
Height: 47,3 cm
Old collector's label numbered 33 on the back (small lacks, especially at the base and the whips)
