Bust of Virgin in carved and polychromed oak, fragment. The head is crowned with a short veil revealing the wavy hair. Full-figured face with a kind expression, eyes stretched out, with the ends raised towards the temples and the lower eyelids swollen, small straight nose, smiling mouth and dimpled chin; she is dressed in a dress with a simple neckline and an open mantle.

This beautiful sculpture would have been the upper part of a Virgin and Child. It can be compared to a seated Virgin in carved oak in the Schnütgen Museum collection, given as Cologne, around 1280 (fig.)
