BALLEYDIER (Alphonse): Political and military history of the people of Lyon during the French Revolution (1789-1795). Paris, Martinon and Curmer, 1845-1846. Three volumes.
17 by 25.5 cm. 400; 411; 188-CCXXXII pages, and 30 hors-texte engravings. Complete (the engraving of the castle of Pierre-Cize has been bound in at the head of volume 1). Half beige contemporary calf, black title and giblets, 4 false nerves, a romantic decoration on the central box, double gilt fillet on the boards. Binding with a few discreet traces of moisture, not serious. Interior with scattered freckles, sometimes pronounced, paper of some engravings darkened. Discrete stamp of former ownership on the title pages.
A fine edition, nevertheless, of this classic of Lyon's history. This edition, unlike the edition by Curmer alone, does not include a folding map.
