Contemporary black half-chagrin, 4 nerves, cloth boards decorated with 4 large spandrels, and a central figure (a woman with a bird), all edges gilt. One spine cracked on 10 cm. Throat slightly relaxed. Freckles present throughout the book, but having fortunately spared the engravings of GRANDVILLE.
First edition, illustrated with 52 plates by Grandville, engraved by GEOFFROY. The following editions will have a different mode of printing the engravings.
