SEAT OF LANDRECIES (North) 1655 - "LETTER FROM THE KING, sent to MM. the Provosts of the Merchants & Aldermen of the City of PARIS on the Reduction of the city of LANDRECIES to the obedience of His Majesty; Together the order to attend the TE DEUM, & To make bonfires and to fire the canon." - Vignette with the coat of arms of the City of Paris - Impr. in PARIS, by P. Rocolet, 1655, with privilege of His Majesty. - 3 pp in-4° - The siege of Landrecies, conducted in one month at the beginning of the summer of 1655, marks an important step in the confirmation of the attachment of Artois to France. Louis XIV came in person to review the troops (including the young Vauban) commanded by Clerville the day after the capture of the town.
