Art Deco rug Scotland (?), circa 1930-1940 Wool velvet on cotton backing Signed 350 x 250 cm The painter and decorator Ivan da Silva Bruhns signed this important carpet "more opulent and warmer to the eye and to the foot than a marble floor or a mosaic" (according to Galerie Marcilhac, excerpt from the biographical note). Probably made in Great Britain (Scotland?), its ivory field presents an original decoration of double staircases gray, tobacco and salmon pink stylized in symmetry framed by friezes in chocolate tone.
