PAIR OF VASES IN ANTIQUE Circa 1820 Gilt bronze Signed on the base: Thomire à Paris H. 50 cm ; W. 13,5 cm ; D. 13,5 cm The two vases, mounted on pedestals decorated with laurel wreaths, are inspired by ancient models. They are ovoid in shape. The handles with rollers end in a volute at the height of the gadrooned lip. The fluted body is bordered by a frieze of vine. The base is decorated with stylized foliage. The truncated cone-shaped foot is decorated with palmettes. This pair is a variant of the one in the Louvre, also signed "Thomire à Paris" (fig. 1)
