A garland of oak leaves sprinkled with small acorns wraps around the three-light arm, which is based on the large model in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (fig. 1). The pair of sconces, attributed to Jean-Claude Th omas Duplessis, bears the crowned C, a hallmark used between 1745 and 1749 (H. Ott omeyer and P. Pröschel (eds.), Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, I, p. 143).
