This work was conceived and realized a priori by the care of one person : Pierre I de Lannion (1582-1633), count of Lannion, baron of Vieux-Chastel (Vieuxchâtel), lord of Cruguil, of Goasnou, of Kerbouric, of Kerougant, of La Porte-Verte, of Poulhaguen, of Quélen, of Cosquer, of Quelenec and of La Noë-Verte. He married Renée d "Arradon. His coat of arms with crest is painted on the frontispiece: Argent, with three martlets of sand, on a chief of gules charged with three quintets of the field. The tastes of genealogist of Pierre de Lannion were highlighted by Abbot Bourdeant about Father du Paz ("Le père du Paz et l'histoire généalogique de Bretagne" in Mémoire de la Société d "Histoire et d "Archéologie de Bretagne, 1921, t. II, p. 125- 148). After the death of the Dominican, Lannion acquired his manuscripts and added them to the rich collection of his castle of Kerrand. The present collection of coats of arms is ambitious and is organized alphabetically, at least by letter and then in a less systematic way within the same letter. The coats of arms are painted and arranged in the inner and outer columns. The families are identified, sometimes with their coat of arms and some historical comments. Of course, the Breton families are well represented. Further research will make it possible to cross-reference this important collection with other genealogical or heraldic manuscripts associated with Pierre de Lannion.
